HCYON Executive Commander's Journal
6/2/115
Reid walks to his couch and plops down
onto it, his shirt slightly unbuttoned and his eyes heavy. He feels
incredibly fatigued, and contemplates just going to sleep to catch
what few hours of rest he can like he has on many nights recently.
After some thought staring at the vid-screen in front of him, he
decides against it and starts a long overdue log entry.
“Again it has been some time since I
have made a journal entry, and fortunately today is one of the rarer,
slower days which allows me to finally do so. War has been raging on
for over two months now, and doesn't seem to have any signs of
slowing. HYCON has been busy helping the alliance hold onto the Taff
system, while constantly dealing with the I.LAW alliance who have
taken residence right next door. Fortunately, our efforts have been
successful and Taff is in no immediate danger. However, our efforts
there leave very little in the way of maintaining our hold of
Helgatild, and as it stands our control there is constantly in flux.”
“On a not-so-brighter side, our industrial efforts are all but frozen in place, with very little in the way of communication from Namoi Walker on what the hold up is. She is one of the most brilliant minds I have ever met, yet her inability to yield results for the corporation is starting to become a more serious concern. After over half a year of HYCON providing many of the assets needed for her to do her work, we still have almost zero return.”
“The corporation simply cannot keep functioning in this manner, and if we do not see a breakthrough in the very near future, I will actually be forced to take some of those assets away from her and liquidate, just so we can keep paying our Senior Excavation Controllers and Foreman Nightlund Audeles to get the materials needed for her research and development in the first place. We have a cycle that is functioning, all the way up to the point of Namoi actually producing tangible results. Patience is one thing, but the billions of ISK we have spent in these efforts so far with nothing to show for it is quite another.”
“Members of Gradient such as Ferista Nhey have offered a great deal of assistance both in resource procurement and industrial advice, however, none of this solves anything if our CTO cannot get her people to push out inventory. I have yet to even get the first financial report on our test run made several weeks ago. While I hate to rant on and on regarding this particular subject, I suppose that even my patience has it's limits. I'm not necessarily running this corporation for profit, however, profit is still the lifeblood and we have to play by those rules. I sincerely hope that whatever Namoi has been planning, she does it very soon, before drastic measures must be taken.”
“On a different subject, HYCON will be a full fledged member of Electus Matari soon. This is an exciting time for us as a corporation as it will finally enable us to weigh in on the decisions that matter to us in this alliance. While I still think we have some distance to cover in becoming a more significant contributor, things are still moving forward and overall I cannot complain.”
Reid looks at the nearby touchscreen and brings up the HYCON financial reports, looking between all of the hard and liquid assets, clearly examining where the catch is, frowning once again at the numbers. He leans on his knees with his elbows and continues to look over the information, forming plan B in his mind as he does, hoping it will not have to come to that.
“End log.”
