HCYON Executive Commander's Journal
5/5/115

“It has been an eventful couple of weeks, and I almost do not know where to begin. From the war efforts against the 24th Imperial Crusade, recruiting and training new pilots, our industrial efforts and further developing our comradery with our fellow members of Electus Matari. I suppose I set up a proper order with just these thoughts, so I'll just go with the flow.”

“The war against the Crusade has been escalating as they have reorganized and are successfully recapturing more territory every day. Systems all around have reported an alarming increase in their numbers, and it seems to have pushed the Tribal Liberation Forces to its limits, particularly at a time when I believe they were getting a little too comfortable.”

“Our staging ground in the Eugidi constellation is still standing strong and isn't in immediate danger, however, how long that will last is questionable at best. The surrounding systems are quickly being taken by overwhelming numbers, and HCYON simply doesn't have the numbers to protect them all. However on that note, we have started receiving some reinforcements courtesy of EM's new war director, Captain Ava Starfire.”

“Obviously, Captain Starfire is renown for her prowess in the field, striking countless blows against our enemies over the years. With her leadership, she gathered up a fleet of some of Electus Matari's finest and we destroyed several enemy fleets. I helped coordinate the fleet in one of our larger engagements, and we successfully destroyed them all while allowing Captain Starfire to pull out of the engagement before their focus fire destroyed her vessel. Her intelligence, bravery and judgment were clear indicators that she deserves her reputation.”

“We did lose a few ships in the operation, due mostly to the presence of a Sansha incursion. I myself, along with a couple of other pilots, lost ships to a presence that has all but infected the entire Eugidi pocket. However, as Captain Starfire put it, it is a two-edged sword. It is practically impossible to run into gate camps by the enemy because of the incursion, yet they pose a significant threat to everyone, and it certainly affected us. Without a doubt, I'd rather take my chances with capsuleers, but it is what it is. Operations will continue and hopefully soon the incursion will be driven out.”

“I continue to be impressed with the efforts of Captain Reiss and Joans, both of who have become quite feared by the Amarrian offensive. They keep a constant pressure on the enemy who in most cases either retreat or die, save when roaming in superior numbers. Also, Captain Alizarin continues to show progress and consistency, and questions about his loyalty for the time being have been mostly shelved. While there is still a lot I do not know about him, as it stands, he has shown nothing but a determination to exterminate the enemy, and I believe in judging an individual by their actions, not words or rumors.”

“We also have a couple of new pilots in training, Captain Zeulus and Praxis. They are indeed very green, but they are smart and quickly building a general competence both in piloting skills and fleet operations. I know that without a doubt, these two will rise up in the ranks and become true assets in our ability to give the Amarr hell. All around, I am proud of how much progress HYCON has made overall in the war effort, and I believe without any doubt that our contributions are helping in the battle to secure a free and independent Minmatar Republic.”

“Behind the scenes, I must shine a light on our industrial and financial efforts. While the fruits of our labors here are still slow in being claimed, I do believe that our energy and ISK there will is worthwhile. It's one thing to pilot a ship, destroy enemies, patrol pockets, etc., but another thing entirely to accumulate raw materials, refine them at maximum efficiency, research blueprints to perfection and then create the tools of war at levels that can beat an extremely competitive market. This takes resources, time and patience, and I trust CTO Namoi Walker to get the job done.”

“At her side in this endeavor, there are three individuals I must mention in this log. First off, is someone who started off as a combat pilot, and still occasionally patrols, but has quickly turned into one of our top researchers. Sky “Blazed” Altruir has consistently kept our laboratories at the Walker Research Facility running strong, even in Namoi's absence. With constant conferences that keep her away from our headquarters, I know that she really appreciates Captain Altruir's help in this. Research is one of the slowest aspects of our industrial core, but nevertheless critical in our success.”

“On the resource gathering side, Nightlund Audeles has really stepped up in a tremendous way. He has went through extensive training and has really taken charge of our mining operations. Without being granted any specific role, he has easily stepped up and displayed great leadership abilities out in the asteroid fields, and I intend to grant him full foreman status, with the privileges and abilities to perform this duty in its maximum capacity. He, Garrett and I are actually mining as I make this log in the comfort of my pod. An efficient use of time if I do say so myself.”

“With his eagerness to make this side of our industrial sector work, we will be able to fuel these operations and finally get this engine running the way it should. We have already gathered a generous amount of materials, and it will surely keep Namoi's people busy.”

“Finally, there is Garrett Caldwell. Garrett and I have known each other a long time. He was a close friend of my father's and has stuck with me like an uncle through the years. He can be a loud-mouth, drunken lush at times, but his loyalty and friendship have always come through for me, and in this case, his connections.”

“Recently I sent Garrett away for a couple of weeks to do some work building up our relations with the Wiyrkomi Corporation. We have rented a station from them for some time, however our relationship at best has remained neutral, completely dependent on the almighty ISK, until now. Through Garrett's efforts, we now have full access to their refineries at no cost to us. I am truly amazed at how well he worked this out, as now one hundred percent of the resources we bring into the station, we get to keep, while still using their facilities. I really appreciate the old man's help in this, and the benefits of these strengthened standings are another key component in our industrial success.”

“All of this being said, my CFO Michael Volikov reports that we are finally on the plus side financially, which is another strong sign that we are progressing here, and we can finally start looking at other financial programs to assist all of our pilots in doing their jobs. Namoi and Volikov will be working on these details in the next month or so.”

“On top of all of this, project “Iron Glade” is being developed in coordination with Del Vikus and Ferista Nhey, and will not only help us merge our industry with the rest of Electus Matari, but also further fortify our cohesion with the alliance in general.”

“As time moves on, we are settling into our spot with EM more and more, and I can't state enough how pleased I am in joining them. I look forward to getting through the trial period and HYCON finally achieving full membership. Our small impromptu mining operation is now coming to a close, and with that, so is this entry. End log.”
